Golden State Lumber a nd Showroom began in 1954 when Glen Nobmann founded San Marin Lumber in San Rafael, driven by a simple belief: treat people well and help them build better. From that first yard, Glen’s commitment to service and relationships became the foundation of a business that would grow with the region. His son Lee later expanded the company’s footprint across the Bay Area, changing the name to Golden State Lumber and deepening its role supporting local builders, contractors, and homeowners alike.
Today the company is led by Jessica Scerri, Glen’s granddaughter and CEO, representing the third generation of family ownership. That continuity matters — not just in name, but in how the business operates every day. Alongside longstanding team members who have built deep product knowledge over decades, the Scerri family continues to emphasize personal service and real expertise.
From a single lumber yard to a multi-location partner serving Northern California, Golden State Lumber and Showroom has grown but stayed true to its roots. The values Glen began with — honesty, dedication, and community focus — still guide how we work and serve customers today. With every project we support, we carry forward the legacy of craftsmanship and relationship-first service that started more than 70 years ago.
